I just got my NIB PS90 (black ring optical) a week ago. In the hammer group (as the book calls it) there is a spring loaded metal piece that I cannot figure out. I see that it can lock out the machine from firing but I do not see anything to actuate it nor did I see reference to it in the manual. There is a slot in the bottom of the "bathtub" looking hammer group frame that corresponds to this piece but nothing in the frame to contact it. With a small, balled up piece of paper wedged in there this would make a really effective child lockout.

Does anybody know what this is? I would have attached a picture but don't know how.

I have a picture of it that I was going to attach to the post but I'm more than a little forum stupid.

My guess is some type of inertial safety device to prevent accidental discharge when dropped. It is relatively easy to move and when it is even slightly out of position the assembly that is pressed back by the trigger bar to release the hammer will not move.

You should of course not mess with it or any other part of the hammer group.
