In Louisiana, property taxes where my parents lived were low. There was a $75k homestead exemption.

Where I live now (in Texas), I pay $3k in property taxes a year - 2/3 of that is just for school taxes. The city and the county split the other 1/3 of what I pay. We get a $15k homestead exemption - but only from the portion going to the city.

I find this too high - but I realize other places have it worse than us.

What's it like where U are at?

Ours is about 3% here also.

However... our country property is classified as "Open Grazing Land" so we paid less than 50 bucks last year for all 8 acres.

we have a save our homes 3% cap and a 25k homestead deduction
our taxes are 1600 on 2.5 acres now if I live down town by the Gulf it would be about 100k but most lots are 3 to 6 million
