Does anyone know when was the last FN made FAL was produced?

In other words, when did FN shut its own FAL production line down?

YES! but all the good rifles are expensive these days and some beautiful walnut for the stocks would be Sooo! Sweet!! :?
I feel FN wouldn't bother producing an old, over engineered rifle when they can keep selling SCARs. I doubt they even have working equipment to make FALs anymore. A new production FAL will probably sell as much as the SCAR.

The FN FAL is still made under license down in Brazil I think, possibly still down in Argentina but they may be switching to the varmint caliber M16s?

They won't be cheap, forging process takes a lot of time and labor.

I got my FFL in 1987, still have it, now 07/02. I remember when the last ones came in (1988 I believe. the price actually went down. I bought a NIB 50.63 para for $875. still have it.
I had been wanting one for many years.

Had the 50:63, several 50:00's and built several Imbels. Wish I would have kept them. They were awesome rifles.

GONRA got my $150 "G series FAL light weight" waaay back in early 1960's - am glad I gotit!
Has survived all my 7.62X51mm NATO "handload development" AND HELD UP JUST FINE!
Just for the record and " off topic " as usual for me.... ( I have a preponderance to ramble on about such things )..... seems my IMBEL held up through a nearly catastrophic Nato handload experiment of my own.... I had what I believe.... to be a loose primer or mis-cut primer pocket and when verifying my purchase .... and being my usual run away egotistical self... I was trying to feather the trigger thus attempting to simulate the character " SLICK " from the movie " HEAT " when a round blew up (in my face ) and/or discharged the powder... maybe back burned through the primer orifice... into the action.... ? That small time IED ... blew out the metric mag base into an oval .... just about the same time a slight trickle ran down my leg ..... !

IMBEL receiver +1
Man Kave's skull full of rocks +1
Ex trusted reloading budds 168gr - 0

Since it seems.. ( unfortunately ) that I did not fully comprehend the entire " risk " of reloads, ... I was using some alleged 168gr match grade from a once trusted reloading budd... ! ( that position has been eradicated, additionally I have removed it from the Man Kave repertoire !!! ).... The phrase " once trusted Reloading budd is an oxymoron... to say the least !

The receiver held up fine.... and weapon function verified.... had to send my self back to sit in the corner with the dunce cap on again...!

1988 or says....https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_FAL

News from SHOT - apparently FN is considering bringing back the FAL as part of the "FN Collectors Line" of rifles ....
Let's hope that they wouldn't price it for $4000 or some silly ass number.

I couldn't afford a real FN way back when and had to settle for the IMBEL. The IMBEL is a great gun, probably as good as any real FN FAL...but it's still not an FN.
