My guess would be probably late 1970s early 1980s. They already had the FNC by early 1980s.

News from SHOT - apparently FN is considering bringing back the FAL as part of the "FN Collectors Line" of rifles ....

Let's hope that they wouldn't price it for $4000 or some silly ass number.

I couldn't afford a real FN way back when and had to settle for the IMBEL. The IMBEL is a great gun, probably as good as any real FN FAL...but it's still not an FN.
