Good to hear from you man! And I agree....with the caveat that it seems largely race-centric..... as in lets only stop this in poor neighborhoods, but allow this crap to fly in affluent neighborhoods.....stop it all around. As for MOS95B's comment, I think he was just calling Holder a Nazi, not saying he wasn't right.

So you're for writing kids tickets for talking in class?

PS That list is mostly stupid, and obviously written by a flaming liberal.
My implication, which it appears you did not infer, was to draw an analogy between the Obama Administration and the Nazis. The idea is that even a despot may have some "beneficial" ideas. Obviously, the bad far outweighs any possible good.

As for the list - who cares - it was just someone's idea about what the Nazis did right. But the Winterhilfe socialism (basically forced donations to the party), anti-smoking laws, and animal "rights" still seem a modern trend here in the USA. How about the alleged Obamacare death squads?

As for the zero tolerance school policies - they have been misguided since day one. I think they should be gone as a whole. We have had several incidents in Colorado (elementary children with knives their mom used to cut the lunch sandwich) - none of which had any effect on Columbine or Arapaho HS.

However, I strongly disagree with the racial basis that Holder used to justify his position. Rather than suggesting the schools are over policed and zero tolerance is just plain not working - he suggests the policies should be changed because they disproportionately effect minorities.

Inference seems to be a common topic here lately...and now it is on my face....my fault.

I also agree that it needs to be stopped because it is a terrible idea, not because of race. But i do not think that you can argue that it DOES affect one race disproportionally. And i'm not totally convinced that isn't by accident. HOWEVER, i suspect that if you look at who is enforcing these ridiculous policies, the culprits are, as usual on the left side of the spectrum....(but those on the right are the racists, right.....)

Strange. My mother was a teacher, my step mother is a teacher, and my wife is a teacher all in title one schools. They all agree that "zero tolerance" is a joke, however they argue that students of certain ethnic backgrounds get off with lighter to no punishments because of these same "so called" racial issues. Often a school does not want to risk racially motivated lawsuits and will in turn look past a student's infractions because of his or her background. Do I think that our school system is perfect, no, however I think the study in this article fails to address the big picture with today's society and younger generations and takes the easy road by claiming that our school's current disciplinary system is racist.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day!

This just reminds me of how the school I went to growing up polished its image. They did everything they could to maintain an image. I remember some fairly violent fist fights where legal action was threatened but the school talked them out of it. A friend of mine LITERALLY knocked a dude's lip off in 8th grade, said dude's parents had over $25k in bills. But their son started it, and the school threatened to countersue. I also almost got sued by another students parents for beating the crap out of their son after he started a fight with me, the school said if the parents didn't try to press charges, they wouldn't have their son arrested for starting a fight. I knew guys who got busted with drugs ranging from weed to meth who would get sent to an afternoon school program called AEP for 6 months instead of being given over to law enforcement. They also did what they could to get pregnant girls to drop out of that school and go elsewhere. Some pretty shady stuff, but it kept the school's image.
