anyone know who manufactures the factory night sights that come with FNS, if you buy with the NS option?

if FN makes the sight itself, does anyone know where they get the tritium inserts?

Mine, which I bought just after Christmas, don't have any brand name on them. However, I doubt they are Trijicon. I am very pleased with their daylight performance, more so than any other polymer handgun I own. But they are really, really dim in low light. I have never owned such dim night sights and I don't think Trijicon would make a night sight this poor.

They are.
Okay, if you say so. But, they are dim and essentially useless as night sights. Trijicon and FN should be ashamed to call them night sights. Their redeeming quality for me is that they are most excellent in the daylight, when I use them. If my FNS-9 were my night stand gun I would send it back and tell FN to lick their calf over. Since I don't have need for it at night I will just enjoy using the gun and sights during the daytime.

You're right. I don't know if FN has some deal to buy sights that Trijicon would reject because they are like 10+ years old or something similar. I can put them next to other factory night sight guns that if I can remember that far back were called Tritium sights. And people were saying they will give you cancer and other stupid crap. Personally I've found XS sights are best on subguns & shotguns, Mepro for handguns. Though I've been testing and really liking TruGlo sights. The TruGlo sights are really nice during the day. I think Novak makes long open fiber optic tritium sights too. Though I would worry about the sights if it was my carry gun. (Cracking exposed fiber) So I use Mepro since they are the best bang for your buck. I know this might sound strange but if you decide to get Mepro buy them from direct from Israel....They seem brighter, have no logo's, corners are de-burred, and are cheaper. My guess it that they are from the military production line.

The tritium sights cannot be repaired so if the tritium insert falls-out you need to R&R (remove and replace) the sight. The tritium insert and/or broken/used tritium sights (service life of 10 yrs., some 20 yrs. rare) must be disposed of properly and not thrown in the trash as it is illegal. Tritium inserts cannot be purchased by the public as Tritium is radioactive.

Thanks, in asking "if FN makes the sight itself, does anyone know where they get the tritium inserts?"
I was trying to determine whether FN makes the sight housing itself, but then obtains the tritium inserts from a manufacturer like Trijicon or Mepro. My understanding, for example, is that AmeriGlo makes the sight housing but obtains the tritium inserts from Trijicon.

Based on the comments received, it would seem that FN's factory night sights come from Trijicon.

Thanks all.

These are my night sights on my 40. Work great!
Looks good, the way night sights should. I have Kimbers and Kahrs with night sights that look that good. Not so with my FNS.

Since Glock factory sights suck, I have replaced them on my last two Glock 19s with Truglo TFOs. They give a beautiful sight both at night and during the day. Not sure about longevity yet since I have only had them about a year. If my FNS sights glowed like your .40 I would say they are the best all round sights I have owned since I really like their shape and daylight performance. Since they don't glow worth a hoot, I'll have to say the TFOs are the best all round that I have owned.

They may have changed the manufacturer for night sights since your post as the Fns I just bought has sights that are quite bright. I can see the sites from across my dark bedroom when the gun is on an end table. I will CB further on this.

Justin, are the Mepro night sights easy to see in the day AND night? Where did you purchase yours, and how much do they cost?

I currently have FN's stock sights on my recently purchased FNS9; however, since it's my Personal AND Home defense weapon, I'm looking for suitable day/night replacement sights.

Thanks for your input. 😉

What are they, where'd ya get 'em, and how much did it cost?
You may want to start a new thread instead of necroposting. Justin hasn't signed on since April 2016 and the qBan doesn't seem to have been here since 2015. You are probably not going to get a reply from either of them.

Didn't think of that, ArmyLTC. Will start a new thread.

Thanks for the "heads up".
