Who here uses their FN Five Seven/PS90 as one of their main home defense weapons?

It doesn't matter what kind of gun you use as long as you did the right thing....
Not if you live in MD and not in the eyes of some liberal jurys/judges/lawyers

Why take the chance if you have another more conventional gun that will do the trick. Also they will confiscate your gun while it's under investigation.
Well, I will admit that I would only pull out my PS90 if things were REALLY bad. Its a great gun - but like ya said... If you have other weapons that do the job and don't look as nasty when sitting on an open table in court - you'd be better off using one of them.

However, I got my Five Seven pistol specifically to use with 197 ammo - after my son was born. It is less likely to penetrate as many interior walls as a traditional calibered handgun would.

I did not realize that. I would think a fast round like that would be more likely - of course I have no experience/expertise on the matter

Can you explain.
One of the whole points of the 5-7 ammo is that is DOESN'T over penetrate on hard targets (except for armor for that special police round). That's one of the aspects billed towards the police to get them to use the gun. It won't go thru a bunch of walls.

Now, the 197 V Max round doesn't penetrate as deep as the 195. But, it makes a much bigger hole and fragments. I've read various tests that show the VMax round fragments easily on hard objects.

Do I know exactly how many peices of sheetrock it would go thru before it stopped? No. But I do know it will be less than a 9mm or 40 cal round.
I had a shotgun for years - a nice WInchester 1300 with a folding stock. However, after 1 local range closed down in 1999 - it just sat on the rack.

It was the only range that let me shoot it on the rifle range (most places won't because you'll shoot up the target stand). After it sat there, unused for years, I sold it about 2.5 years ago. It was not the kind of shotgun you'd shoot skeet with, and I have nio desire to shoot skeet)

I've always felt more comfortable with a handgun - at least until I discovered the PS90. I never cared for traditional rifle ergonomics.

Now that I have a child, I have my pistol locked in a gun vault. I COULD get a wall mounted lock to keep my shotgun by the bed, but I don't think the wife would like that :x - and it would take longer to open than the gun vault.

I looked at Benelli's earlier this year - but the action doesn't feel as nice as that WInchester I had. And, I once again questioned the whole purpose of me even buying a shotgun when I have no place to shoot it.
