I decided it was time to man up and get some GOOD knives.

You can go crazy but I wanted something to use and not just look good on a table so here is the first of a few to come.

Swamp Rat Ratmandu CG in desert sage blade and tan canvas handle

Very nice :?
It's not to big, the blade is just over 5" overall just over 10"
The blade is a saber grind and 3/16" thick.
SR101 steel and hardened to 58-60Rc

Swamp Rat Knives is a sister company to Busse Knives and uses Busse's proprietary multi-step tempering protocol.
The knives do not come with any sheaths and run between 4-14 weeks from the time you order them.
I have my eye on a couple other from them and after receiving this one I will not hesitate getting in line for the next one.

Check them out if your looking for a nice useable knife.

That's a nice slab of steel, Tal.

But you know today is the Year of the Ram (or goat or sheep...depending on translation).

Sweet blade by the way Tal. I'll have to have a look at those myself.
They are really nice and if you want to check them out here's a link Home

I have my eye on the Rodent 6 next but I'm going to send them a request to see if they will do the blade and handle is a different color combo.

Damn! you like the big knives, are we compensating for something

Don't resist............I used the 4-14 weeks to justify it to myself.

Wow, 4-14 weeks. I'm having trouble waiting on a knife I ordered last Friday. Damn federal holiday Monday added an extra transit day. I can get a e-stamp in 14 weeks. I really like that Rodent 3 though. No compensating here.

So keeping with the whole "RAT" theme, I had picked up a Ontario Knife Works RAT7.

And I snagged a Magnum Desert Warrior by Boker.

And for size comparison the Swamp Rat RMD with the other two.

The Rodent 6 will be about the same size as the RAT7 and Boker, this should give me a good start along with eying a Benchmade Nimravus and the 950 Rift folder.

I have gotten use to waiting, seems like most things I want come with a real test of my endurance and will power.

They did end up shipping my Ratmandu in about 5 weeks so it wasn't too bad, I'd say their time frames would depend on the demand.

I'm diggin that Boker. Congrats!
It's not priced to bad, I picked it locally for $57 out the door. It's what got me back started looking into knives again, after picking it up I started really looking into what was out there now and quickly moved up into the Swamp Rat knives. The Boker is 440 stainless so it's a decent blade and it'll keep a decent edge so long as it isn't used to chop down saplings, the RAT7 would be better.

This forum is terrible to my wallet. :-x I had almost forgotten about the Swamp Rats!

That looks very nice! I've been looking at these knives for a while but always put my $$$$ into something else. I have an ESEE 6 that kind of fill the niche of survival blade and don't want to spend the money on collecting blades yet (maybe in a few years).
