I like the LBT (London Bridge Trading) web site...I got one from there and love it. They have some simple adjustable slings. Check them out...the Vickers slings seem quite popular, but LBT has a great web site to view.

Blue Force Gear for me. Simple and effective (I just went with the 2 point one vs. the convertible as I'm not a huge fan on 1 point slings).

after playing w a few single pts and 2 points and NOT liking them after humping a couple days w/them elk hunting, i decided to try a HK AMBI 3 point with dual hk hooks and a push pin into my vltor rear butt piece. made my life wonderful, samo as on my HK-91, and MP5. too simple. buy them at rtg parts or hkparts.net

Blue Force Gear VCAS 2-point all the way. I've been running these hard for the last 6 years, and they'll take whatever you can throw at them. The only other sling I would consider is the original H&K 3-point as it's extremely durable and offer's a few tricks that no other slings have re-created (to the best of my knowledge.) Magpul MS3/MS4 is good, but I still feel it's not designed to be used quite outside of the AR/M4 market Magpul is so heavily invested in.

That being said, the SCAR is a bit of a tricky beast to figure out a proper sling setup on. Before the advent of the QR sockets from PMM and IWC, it was even worse. I would like to see the SCAR redesigned with new sling attachment options. Replace the aluminum plates with steel and offer either a built in QR plate or proper 1.5" sling loop on either end of the rifle.

Padded Blue Force Gear VCAS 2-point is my choice after buying 3/4 of all the slings mentioned here in this thread. I have boxes of slings not being used because I prefer this one over all my others. LOVE IT!

I'd love to buy a savvy sniper but can anyone who has one tell me who they bought theirs from? I'm having a hell of a time finding a dealer.

I love my SavvySniper sling... Got the QUAD X COBRA with a pair of 'silencers' that slip over the HKs. I emailed Savvy Sniper directly (brian@savvysniper.com) and they even customized the sling to my size and needs.. great service and an even better sling. You should check out their website and the videos they have on there...

I had the same problem..After a call to Savvy Sniper, they recommended these guys at Black Wing..Ohio's Premier 5-Star Rated Shooting Range, Ohio CCW Training & Gun Store » Black Wing Shooting Center

I couldn't find how to order it online from them either, but a phone call to them worked they were very helpful..

Hope this helps.

I don't have a 17, but on my 16 the Black Hawk sling is just fine.

One thing I would say about the sling, is that (because it is a bungie sling) their is a substantial portion of it that is round instead of flat. Not an issue for most people, but for me the round part rests on my shoulder sometimes and can start to get uncomfortable after a full day of wearing it (like in a carbine class). However, I am slightly on the bigger side (6'8" 235lbs) so it probably sits differently on me than most people. If you are a full figured male like myself, I would order from the company directly because they will gladly customize it and make it a little longer to accommodate any increased manliness. I wish I would have done this when I bought mine.

Thanks for the help, folks. I've looked at them all and the savvy sniper is my choice. Just wish they'd get big enough that they could make it easier for shooters to buy from them. I'll snag one from one of the choices you gave me. Thanks again - illwill

I'm stuck deciding between a savvy sniper and an ares husky. I haven't tried a sling with a bungee on it. Could anyone with experience in having both a bungee and a padded sling chime in on it's pros and cons? The bungee just seems a little weird to me, but granted I've never tried a sling with one.

If you "sling up" to shoot 200M+ offhand but slack out to run close up and switch leads there is no better sling than the Ares. The Amentum Slider with it's integral loop is the fastest easiest to manipulate adjustment system I have ever used. I can literally go from tightly slung up and bladed to full slack square to the target to cinching my weapons tight to my body to clear an obstacle by moving my supporting hand in and out. I don't have to grab a tab, grip a buckle, flip a cam or any other BS. I keep the loop hooked to my supporting (hand fingers or thumb) during transition and don't even let go if it while shooting offhand from 10M-400M.

I like the pull tab on the Vicker's sling but this Ares sling takes that concept to the next level.

I would say that the padded sling is more comfortable, but the bungie gives you a little more leeway on the length when you're shooting. If you shoulder the gun to shoot and don't have the sling adjusted long enough to fully extend, with a bungie sling you can muscle it out an extra inch or so, with a regular sling it stops abruptly and you have to adjust it or shimmy it over your shoulders a bit to get the extra length you need. I've also noticed that a similar thing happens (bungie stretches, non-bungie binds up) when I twist my body significantly to the right to shoot. One other thing that is that the bungie is round instead of flat (like most patted slings), so it is not as comfortable to lean against. I think this only really comes up if you wearing it in a car and leaning back against the seat or something, but you might do that a lot or have some other situation where that matters to you.

I really like my Savvy Sniper sling, but my go to AR has a Proctor sling and it's definitely my favorite. Very light, simple and fast and it's only $29. I ended up putting QD's on the ends and added a IWC 2-to-1 triglide (Impact Weapons Components) so I could turn it into a single point too. Including the sling and all the added hardware it probably cost me $50-$60 total. Before I added to it though, I used the plain $29 version for over a year and loved it. Hope that helps,

H

Blue Force Gear VCAS (Vickers Combat Application Sling) 221 with the quick detach. Do NOT get the Red Swivel, it's useless and gets in the way. I am left handed so I also got the Universal Wire Loop w/ Push Button Socket so I can attach it to the rear of the upper receiver on the right side of the rifle.
