I would like to see a definitive thread on all the FNX modifications that have been done. Please provide links to products and of course any pictures would help greatly.

So if you have ameriglow sights, lets see them, lint the part number, cost etc.

Thanks,
Wolvee

I will edit in all of your comments and suggestions to build a complete list of mods. Admin, feel free to add to this post as well.

  • Threaded FNP barrel
The threaded FNP-9 barrel will fit the FNX-9.

Sorry man, the FNX just isn't a 1911 or a glock. It's new, and has not swept the masses enough yet to have a huge after-market base.

Trust me, I wish it weren't true. I'd love some:
- custom magazine base plates,
- maybe a threaded barrel,
- maybe even a baddass customized backstrap?
- how about some extended magazines?
- A lightweight titanium slide? it would probably cost more than a tactical .45 but it would be way badass!
- A ported slide?

Any other ideas? Maybe someone out there with a custom gun shop, too much time, and way too much money will start sending us some prototypes to try out!

If only... :-D

What's his name? I think I know a guy who had his M&P modded by him (grip texturing, lots of slide serrations and grooves on top of the slide). Can't remember his name at the moment (the gunsmith)

Yeah this thread can be really helpful to individuals that are new to FN and the forum.

From a previous thread we figured out that the threaded FNP-9 barrel will fit the FNX-9. There are also sights you can get for the FNX-9.

Reality is the FNX-9 is just too new and there it isn't no where near the aftermarket of Glock and others. It is however becoming more and more popular out here.

The first post is updated with a list. If anyone can think of anything else, name it, give a link to where you can buy it and maybe if you have any experience w/ it.

:?

Thanks,

The Tactical has the slide milled out and comes with mounting plates for the optics, so the optic is kind of in the slide if you will.

You could get the FNX slide milled out some potentially, but the optics would probably hang over the edge of the slide b/c the optics are slightly wider than the slide (the 45 has a wider slide, so that isn't an issue).

dan is correct. I have played with the model. Unfortuntely the thinnest red dot like the ones used on the tacticals are just too wide for the fnx rail. There would be i think a hundred thousands on either side overhand. Also have to be careful not to hit that slot milled out on the underside and the firing pin channel.

And the 45's suppressor sights fit on them (front and rear)
I'm waiting on the guy that did that mod to post more details like accuracy to it's sighting point and how well the retainment is.

Ameriglo also a a front red fiber optic sight for the fnx.
Last I knew they were permanently out of stock of Red. If this isn't the case, I'll add their part numbers to the first thread.

I added it above, thanks for your help. +1Rep. (when it allows me to again that is.)

I think it may be good to add a holster section to the above, specifically for the FNX. A lot of people recommend looking at the FNP holster thread, but I've tried a few and they haven't fit. Those were the blackhawk serpa for the sig sp2022 and the blackhawk serpa for the Glock 21....serpa for the xd 3.8 will be the next I try.

once this list gets big enough, I definitely think a sticky would be in order.

Holsters made specifically for the FNP will work for the FNX for the most part. There's a few (like Raven Concealment) where they don't due to how high the kydex is.

Why dont you completely take the guess work out of it and just get a shooters pack from BladeTech? It is a holster specifically made for the FNP/FNX. It fits everytime.

Without trying to answer for the other guy... although the Shooters pack takes out the guess work, it is also more meant toward Open carry and competition shooting. It does not work well for Conceal carry and it does not work well when compared to most IWB holsters. I carry for about 10 hours a day and I couldn't imagine using the shooter pack holster. In an out of the car & constantly readjusting for comfort drove me crazy with other similar holsters.

When I was looking for a holster, I consistently heard, "just by the shooters pack". I have to respond to that by saying, just because it is sold with it and in collaboration with FN does not make it the best option. If it were the Only option, then of course it would be.

Nothing against the Shooter pack holster, it is very good for it's intended purpose.

+1

Totally agree. I own the shooters pack and it is intended for Open carry and competition shooting (great quality rig though). If you want to go to a tactical pistol class they will want you to have something like the shooters pack but its not intended for concealed carry.
