Yes and IMO it didn't get hot it's about 50degrees here so it got warm but it was nice as my hands was cold. There are plenty of holes and slots so the heat disperses nicely.

Why would I want one? I have no use for all the railing I like how it sets it apart from others and isnt the same ol same. I mean if you want to put a bunch of stuff on the rails and be tacticool its all good or if you just like the look of it the factory way have at it. I like how it hides the gas block and more of the barrel, gives a little protection I guess. Why wouldn't you want one is the question?

That's the only pictures really is from shot show. I'm not sure but on YouTube I think the is a small video of the scar with the guard I think.......

the stock should be in the mail by mon so i will post pictures of that as well. If you go to google type in scar vltor stock and there is all kinds of pictures.
Your stock'll be in the mail on Monday, as tomorrow? I'll have to call them in the AM. They told me four weeks and I was five on the list. Also, on the extender, was there a slight step for the bottom part or was it straight. I have the same set up as you but they forgot the screws for the extender in my order. I like the look and feel much better than stock. Waiting for the stock......

Well guess not mon the next shipping day since tomorrow is a holiday. At least that's what they told me last Thursday I think it was. The bottom part is straight. And they forgot my screws as well but I've got a box of them so it wasn't a big deal. And the feel of it is a lot better.

How wide is it?

I like narrow tubes on AR's (like the Alpha rail from Troy on mine)

I'd also love to see the gun weighed without the extended rail (just the mid-length that covers the front sight some). I would think it would be close to stock weight since you're removing the lower rail.

How much time does it actually take to remove the barrel, now that you've installed this?

I would think it would be faster, looks like 2 less screws to loosen as you no longer have that forward portion of the lower rail to unscrew.

Faster vs. stock since it replaces the lower rail, you only have the 4 torx screws in the barrel extension and don't have the forward two for the lower rail. It does not appear that the Vltor CASV needs to be removed.

I can't tell from the OP's pictures, but looks like the Ultar HG is anchored to the barrel extension fastener and the front (sling mount) bracket. Is that the only method of attaching this HG to the weapon?

If so, does it allow access to the front (2) fasteners (3 & 9 o'clock) to allow barrel removal?

I take it the front (3 & 9 o'clock) fasteners are no longer captive?

You still have those lower two; this was the first time I removed the barrel, wow easy! I had to put the two square retainer nut thingies back in place to attach the top part of the CASV. The upper quarter of the sides are actually attached to the original side rails mounting area, then you attach the bottom section to those and the bottom two larger screws. So with all that, barrel removal is most likely the same, time wise. Very stable, no flex, different and functional, if you need it (want it)!

Removing the barrel, how many screws did you have to loosen? 4 or six?

So the CASV is attached to the former pic rail holes AND the forward barrel support bracket.

No access, you have to take it all apart. Dremel, but Im quite sure you have better tools. That might be in the Gen2 in a year or five. I still like it as is for now, the scar isn't really as multi caliber as the original hype claimed unless you have the means to make it that way.
