Hey guys,
Im really interested in what others are shooting in their spr.
What are the loads you shoot?
Bullet weight?
Brass, trim and seating?
Primer?
Powder?

I am currently trying to work up a load for 155 Lapua Scenars with Varget.
Anyone have any data on this as well as 175 SMK's.
20", 1/12 twist.

Thanks
Dacam

I'm using CCI BR2 large rifle primer's
Bullet that I have been using is 168 gr A-max's, will soon be switching to 168 gr SMK's
Powder: 43.4 gr IMR 4064 (will soon be switching to Benchmark)
Have not been trimming the brass (once fired Federal Gold Medal Match, all fired from my rifle).
OAL: 2.795"

I have not been able to match the groups of 168 gr FGMM yet. I'm hoping that with the SMK's and Benchmark I'll be able to do that.

Hi..new guy here.
I have used 43.7 grains of IMR 4064 and Sierra MK 168 grs OAL 2.8, with good results in my Rem 700. This load gives me results very similar to what I get when I shoot Federal GMM.... about 1/2” on average.
I still haven't reloaded for my new A5M since I just bought it on saturday, but will give it a try this weekend.

Took my A5m out today. Same primer, bullets and powder as I have stated above. Top left and right groups were 43.4 gr of powder, dirtying up the barrel. Center red circle (and bottom two groups) were 43.3 gr of IMR 4064 (8 rounds, 5 are in that main ragged hole, second round of the group was the right side of the red circle, high left was me and top right edge of the circle I felt good with it, but there it hit).

Bottom left was all me... immediately after that I did the 3 round group to the right. One thing I'm noticing about IMR 4064: it groups a lot better when it's hot out. When I shot for groups when it was below freezing, this powder didn't do too great-still 1 moa capable (and I did compare to my standard 168 gr FGMM to confirm it wasn't me-I would get one cold bore flier about 1/4" from the main group with FGMM). When it's 80 plus, 4064 seems to do quite good.

I'm shooting a FN SPR A1A, I use the following load for a hunting load that is 1/2 MOA at 300 yards in my rifle. FED 210 LR primers, 42.6 gr VARGET, Lapua .308 brass, and Hornady 150 gr SST #30302 bullets. My COL is 2.800". Elevation is 2200, humidity 85%, Temp 84 degrees, 3 mph wind directing to the shooter. That load grouped 3 groups at 300 yards with the largest being 1.65" center to center of bullet impacts. Groups were shot on 6/20/13 in Western NC.

I'm shooting The FN A1 Pillar/Devcon bedded, Nightforce 5.5-22x50
175gr Sierra HPBT Match 2.860" COL (Single load only)
45.0gr Hodgdon Varget (Max Load, so work your way up)
Federal GM210M Primers (CCI BRs slightly larger groups)
Winchester Brass
2,620 FPS

During load work up I shot two amazing back to back groups, 5 shots and 6 shots, both groups went .90 @ 300 Yards! 100 yard groups always touch. 12" plates at 800 yards with no wind is child's play.

OP, I would recommend getting your rifle bedded first. That made the biggest improvement to my groups. I had Short Action Customs do the work.

With regard to load data, I am shooting 178 AMAXs seated to 2.925 (still fits in modded AI mag) in Lapua brass with 42.1 grains of Varget. Gets me 2625 fps @ 70 degrees, plenty for 1000 yard action and easy on the brass.

My rifle was a consistent .5moa shooter from the factory, but after bedding & load workup, I have shot a few .1s and many .2s @100 yards. Custom gun performance at factory prices!

Here's my best 5 shot group ever .108 moa:

Mike - can you describe what you did to your stock - especially the cheek piece? Your rifle is pretty much exactly what I want to do with mine!
