I've had my SCAR 17 for a few weeks, my son and I finally had the opportunity to hunt together using the SCAR last weekend. About 11:30 PM on Friday we found a small group of hogs trashing an open field. My son shot the first hog at 50 yards, he hit the other two hogs on the run - out to approximately 150 yards.

We had a PVS 22 clip-on in front of a NightForce NXS 2.5-10X42. We were using a small thermal camera to locate the hogs, and PVS 14s to see where we were walking.

So far, we've used the SCAR 17 on two hog hunts and have knocked down 8 hogs. It is an exceptional hunting rifle.

Here is a poor quality photo taken with my phone:

My usual round is a 168 grain Barnes VOR-TX, I've taken pigs over 300 lbs with this round. I've also shot pigs with other types of .308 ammo - even 168 grain Sierra Match Kings. Generally speaking, my experience has been that any .308 round will do significant damage to a hog.
