Holy f*ck... I was joking in my previous post....look at this sh*t....
NON RECIPROCATING CHARGING HANDLE KIT, SCAR 17S/20S - Hi-desertdog LLC HDD hddtactical
The HDD kit is not the FN factory designed kit and as far as I have ever seen, HDD's kit has never been in stock. I suspect as others do the FN kit supposedly available 1st/2nd quarter '22 is likely going to cost about $1k.

Hopefully someone will come up with ambidextrous folding charging handles for the new non-recip BCG. I love my folding charging handle.

SeaMac, Concur. Here is some analysis to support your $1K estimate.
If you use an AR15 bolt/carrier/charging "quality" upgrade as a reference; that cost would be 24% of the value of an entire new AR15 rifle. Applying the 24% upgrade to the SCAR17S NRCH MSRP of $3850, then expect the SCAR 17S NRCH upgrade kit cost to be $924. Add taxes and fees of $51, then budget for $975.
FNH USA, historically, is about 1 quarter behind in delivery of an advertised release date; therefore, expect the NRCH upgrade kit no earlier than June 2022. So, all you have to do is save $122/mo for your upgrade, if you start now.

You're not getting a new bolt, and that's the expensive part... So... What's your guess without bolt

Why wouldn't use the bolt from your existing BCG? Seems to me you could swap all the moving parts from the existing to the NRCH kit. Of course we don't know yet what will come with the NRCH upgrade
I agree... The analysis he quoted, which was cost of a carrier and bolt in, say, an AR, being 24% of cost of rifle, is not valid, as this kit WON'T have a bolt in it

No bolt means add $300.
I guess we will have to wait for more info from FNH, if the OEM bolt can be used with a NRCH upgrade kit?
I can't see why there would be any change in the bolt. The modification is to the carrier sled only. Agree though, we'll have to wait and see how the upgrade kit will be packaged. It makes sense both logistically and economically to offer just the NRCH BC.

I’m guessing the original idea of plugging the handle directly into the BCG was to enable the shooter to manually load rounds in the event of jamming caused by some physical issue. If that was the case then the Reciprocating handle would be the better design for a Combat Rifle. I’ll keep it as is…I kinda like the utility.

If FN’s idea here is to increase Civilian sales, that might be a stretch if the MSRP goes up $300 for this little change. If it were me I’d just make the upgrade for Civilians as inexpensive as possible. Probably the only parts that would need to be changed are the two new Carrier parts…so $200 is the max I’d be willing to pay…$150 would make me consider it for both of my rifles.

Not a snowballs chance in ...... the conversion will be that cheap. Probably $750-$950. It's not worth it to me either and lest we all forget the testing this rifle has gone through and its battle proven. Works great just as it is.....with maybe a little tuning from those of us who like suppressors and better triggers.

My guess (and it is only a guess):~$750 for the complete kit (bolt, carrier, CH etc.). I figure the initial offering will be in kit form, with individual parts available down the road.

Of course, since it's FN, the kit will only be available once every 93 days, and only between the hours of 2:43 AM-2:57 AM CST.

Me, I'm skipping the upgrade and going whole hog...either another 17 in the NRCH flavor or a 20 NRCH...I can't decide. But being as I just blew this year's firearm budget, I have plenty of time to decide. Anyways the thought of buying and outfitting another SCAR doesn't inspire urgency.

At a 750-1000 for the upgrade I’m going to prob sit back and first see reviews trickle through. For that money I likely won’t upgrade and maybe buy a new scar. Most likely I will just keep things as is cause 4 scars later I don’t have issues with them as is. Guess going to just keep my options open. 500 and below maybe go all in on 4 idk yet
