I just read through all 40+ pages of this thread, and have googled (a little bit)and couldnt find anything to answer my question. I had just received a ps90 the other day and it had a different hammer pack than any of the ones I've seen on here. What differentiates it is a dark grey block at the rear of the pack. Also the trigger connection rod is part of the hammer pack. (If this is something normal than Please delete this comment) here are a few pics of what I have. It looks like a gen 3 by color and options.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

Is the PS new, used, how did you get it?

Would love to get my hands on one of those to examine it. Buy by the looks and re-design of the hammer pack, I would suspect that this is the long awaited Gen 4 hammer pack that FN has had to redesign to make sure that the hammer pack stays semi-auto only as JHS has indicated.

I would like to see more pictures of the interior of the hammer pack if possible. I want to see down inside the pack a clear shot of the drop safety area. I would also like to see a clear picture of the primary sear (the sear with the two ears that catches the hammer) specifically, the bottom of the sear. Drop the hammer and pull the sear forward then take a picture of the bottom of the sear where the return spring is at. I'd like to see the entire bottom of the sear. I also would like you to take the dimension of the trigger rod, how long it is from the front to where it sits into the rear sear (the black sear that releases the hammer). A picture of the full trigger rod and is the trigger rod able to be removed from the rear sear. And any other pictures that you can provide of inside the hammer pack from various angles so that I can see if any other changes have been made.

I have long suspected that FN has been required to 're-design' the hammer pack to ensure that it is not convertible from semi to auto fire, which would indeed make this a Gen 4 pack that we have been waiting for for about 2.5 years now. Spare hammer packs have been on back order for that amount of time......

Thanks for your posting this new generation pack. It is the first one I have seen. Please.....more pictures please......

I feel like a kid in a candy store........

Wouldn't this actually be the Gen V trigger pack being there were a few of the Gen IV packs missing the front seat?
That is still up in the air. I have only seen a photo of the supposed Gen 4 missing the auto sear and suspect that these are Gen 3 and Gen 2 hammer packs that the auto sear was removed and sold as an individual item.

But yes, if there is indeed a Gen 4 with no auto sear, then this would be a Gen 5 pack. I am not convinced that a Gen 4 exist though.

Looks like they just did a mod on the gen 3.
It does look like a basic Gen 3 by the hammer design. But this would be a capability change that would warrant a new Generation number. We went from Gen 1 to Gen 2 when the post was removed and replaced with the shelf. Then went from Gen 2 to Gen 3 when the hammer was re-designed with the higher cut. Then the supposed Gen 4 when the auto sear was removed (I am still not convinced that a Gen 4 exist...still think they are Gen 2 and Gen 3 packs that the auto sears were removed from and sold separately) and now this would be a new Generation.

I suspect that if there was a Gen 4 with the auto sear removed, we would have seen a lot more of them as the years went by and probably would not have had the 2.5 year drought on spare hammer packs. I saw a picture of a supposed Gen 4 with no auto sear with a Gen 3 hammer, and a supposed Gen 4 with no auto sear but with a Gen 1/2 cut hammer. This is why I suspect that the auto sears were removed and sold separately during the $1000 hammer pack sales we saw on the forum and on (f)unbroker....

Does this signal an increase in value of Gen III trigger packs. It seems like each time that FN made it harder to screw with them the price goes up, WAY UP!
As JHS indicated, not the Gen 3's but the Gen 1/2's will go up in price. If you can convert the Gen 3 to a Gen 2 by replacing the hammer (which FN does not sell as a part) with an aftermarket part, it MAY increase the price of the Gen 3 pack. (deleted - not verifiable information).

Again, this is for informational purposes only and any non 02/07 SOT that illegally converts a hammer pack to auto fire will eventually get caught and prosecuted...The ATF does not dick around with illegal machine guns and the penalties are almost as severe as capitol murder.

As you pointed out it's VERY illegal but there is already a plastic hammer, the hammer from a SteyrAUG pack.

It's beyond stupid to risk the penalties, stock trigger packs are FINE in their stock configuration.

But people who do this aren't too bright, a friend of mine had a suppressor stolen off of his tables at a gun show. The genius was shooting it at a public range.

An observant off duty Police Officer asked if he could look at it. The guy said sure, the Officer then asked to see his Form 4, when he didn't know what a Form 4 was he was arrested.

The trigger sucks and one of the packs will allow the damn thing to fire out of battery from what I was told. I would love to have the equivalent of a Geisselle or Timney type trigger assembly but a bunch of deranged bullies with a certain alphabet agency have a bug up their rears about it.
